GIVE’s trip to Vinh Hy brought ocean and coral reef stories to life for local children. We visited about 400 kids at local kindergartens, sharing knowledge and inspiring curiosity about marine life.

Following the waves, the children in the fishing villages of Vĩnh Hy, Vĩnh Hải, Ninh Thuận grow up with each season of the sea breeze.

When the sea is calm, they stay at home with their mothers, watching over their younger siblings and following their fathers’ boats as they sail away. When the sea is rough, they help their fathers mend nets and go to school to learn.

Now, Vĩnh Hy Bay is no longer a desolate, mysterious place, but has become more vibrant with the footsteps of tourists. So, outside of school and playtime, the children and their families become tour guides and servers, doing familiar jobs like rowing basket boats, selling street food, and taking care of fish and shrimp rafts. The bright smiles on their young faces, already marked by the harsh weather, show that by sharing the hard work, they know their parents’ burdens are lightened in the struggle to make a living.
