THE NURTURER
HUONG DOAN
As the principal of two kindergartens and a mother of three young men, I have always believed in the gentle wisdom that children bring into the world. Their minds are open, like still water, ready to reflect the beauty and harmony of nature. From the very beginning, I have supported GIVE Sustainable because it aligns with this belief—the idea that we must nurture a deep connection between children and the earth, teaching them to care for it as part of their natural existence.
In my guidance to the GIVE team, I emphasize patience and mindfulness when working with children. We must engage with them in ways that resonate with their innate curiosity and wonder, using art and play to invite them into a quiet understanding of the environment.
Through this, we plant seeds of compassion and respect for all living things. It is a peaceful path, one that will grow with them throughout their lives, teaching them to walk lightly on the earth and protect the oceans with a heart full of gratitude.
THE ARTIST – WORKSHOP COACH
PHAM THANH TOAN
My name is Pham Thanh Toan, and as an artist, I believe that art holds the power to communicate beyond words, reaching into the heart where deep connections are made. When I had the opportunity to teach the Starfish kids through the Art Workshop at GIVE Sustainable, I saw firsthand how art could ignite something special in them.
We all have the power of imagination, but we often forget to use it. My goal is to evoke that creativity in each child. Through drawing and painting, they can express their emotions, thoughts, and dreams about the world, especially the ocean, in ways they might not otherwise. By guiding them to tap into their imagination, they begin to understand the beauty of nature and why it needs protection.

Watching these kids realize that their art has the power to inspire others is incredibly fulfilling. Through their imagination and creativity, they’re learning that they can be part of the change the world needs, one brushstroke at a time.
